To assist management and enhance the growth of our products department, we are looking for a Team Coach and Project Facilitator to join us. The incumbent will be a front-line player in the development of self-organized excellence teams.
As the product department’s Team Coach and Project Facilitator reporting to the CTO, you will have a direct impact on the teams during every phase of their development and therefore on the quality of their work, on their results and on their deliverables. You will act as a coach and ensure that the teams’ dynamics, ecosystems and environment are favourable to their success.
Unlike a project director or manager, your influence will be exercised on a human and corporate scale. Moreover, the duties are partially inspired by the concepts proposed by the American author and management coach, Patrick Lencioni.
Main Responsibilities:
Extensively contribute to the support and development of a self-organized management team;
Assess the project teams’ dynamics and operations and ensure that they promote team efficiency. Control, provide guidance and realign if need be;
Promote the exchange of ideas and opinions and ensure that members create their action plan while avoiding the pitfalls arising from a consensus;
Be involved in the various stages of the teams’ development in order to assist them as they assume their responsibilities and ensure that potential cohesion or performance issues are avoided;
Be able to identify individual strengths and limitations, make recommendations to managers concerning the need to oversee members or recognize their contribution;
Help individuals and teams in their growth, their development and their acquisition of maturity;
Be focused on continuous improvement, promote best practices in terms of management, process and team operations;
Be an agent of change, use your influence, share your ideas and promote the use of best practices in product development.
Candidate profile:
THE DESIRED PROFILE:
Proven experience in technological product design and/or development (e.g., software developer, design engineer, etc.);
At least 15 years of experience in team management and/or coaching;
Command of the concepts involving self-organization and facilitation;
Extensive knowledge of complex environments (e.g., R&D, iterative and incremental product development);
Ability to listen and to analyze;
Communication skills;
Leadership and ability to be proactive;
A human approach to the incumbent’s management skills;
Cooperative spirit;
French/English bilingualism;
Knowledge about communities of practice.
